Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Across Various Health Care Fields

As a high school student from Iran currently studying in Switzerland, I have always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and health care. This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to intern at an elite cardiac clinic, which has only heightened my interest in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various health care fields. My passion for STEM drives me to explore how AI can revolutionize health care, from medicine to dentistry and beyond. I am also exploring these applications during my present internship.

AI’s potential in medicine is vast and transformative. One of the most promising applications is in diagnostics. AI algorithms can analyze medical images, such as X-rays and MRIs, with remarkable accuracy, often surpassing human capabilities. This can lead to earlier and more accurate diagnoses, ultimately saving lives. For instance, AI systems can detect early signs of diseases like cancer, enabling timely treatment and significantly improving patient outcomes.

In cardiology, AI can analyze vast amounts of patient data to predict heart diseases before they manifest. By identifying patterns and risk factors, AI can help doctors devise personalized treatment plans, reducing the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes. My internship at the cardiac clinic has shown me firsthand how AI can assist in monitoring patients’ heart conditions in real-time, providing critical data that informs timely medical interventions.

Dentistry also stands to benefit immensely from AI. AI-powered tools can enhance the accuracy of dental procedures, from cavity detection to orthodontics. AI can create precise 3D models for dental implants, ensuring better fit and success rates. Moreover, AI-driven analysis of dental X-rays can help in early detection of oral diseases, promoting preventive care.

Beyond diagnostics and treatment, AI can streamline administrative tasks, reducing the burden on health care professionals and allowing them to focus more on patient care. AI can manage patient records, schedule appointments, and even assist in medical research by analyzing large datasets to identify trends and potential breakthroughs.

As I prepare to study a STEM field at university, I am excited by the limitless possibilities AI offers in health care. By integrating AI into various health care practices, we can enhance patient care, improve outcomes, and make health care more efficient and accessible. The future of health care lies in the hands of AI, and I am eager to be part of this transformative journey.
